James VanOosting is a novelist who lives in South Orange, New Jersey. He is a retired professor of arts and sciences, as well as business, at Fordham University.  He was Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at Seton Hall University. 

 

VanOosting has authored ten books, including four novels for young readers (Farrar, Straus & Giroux, HarperCollins), five college textbooks (Prentice-Hall, Houghton Mifflin, Allyn & Bacon), and a collection of personal essays (Crossroad).  He has published articles in The American Scholar, Commonweal, America, The Chronicle of Higher Education, et. al., as well as many scholarly articles.
